Officer Anthony Spence must be a Nate Diaz fan, and watched UFC 196 this past weekend. Or maybe he’s a pimp on the side, who knows.
The video, which was shot by another student, is only a few seconds long, so we don’t know the reason for the escalation. But it seems as if a person in his position, shouldn’t be slapping the shit out of students. It wasn’t as if the kid was fighting back or resisting.
Officer Anthony Spence admitted last week that he was the subject of a criminal investigation involving the March 1 incident at the REACH Partnership School. He claimed the news media would “twist” the story if he elaborated.
“Right now I’m the bad guy,” he said.
Spence was also charged with second-degree child abuse by a custodian and misconduct in office. A second officer who was also present, 53-year-old Saverna Bias, was also charged with second-degree assault and misconduct in office.
I’m sure the kids did something wrong, I can’t think of another reason the cops would have been called to the classroom, but things need to be handled better than this.
