Legacy Fighting Alliance has announced that a new welterweight champion will be crowned when the promotion heads to Atlanta for the first time in July.
LFA 71 will take place at the Coca-Cola Roxy in Atlanta, Ga, on Friday, July 12. The event will be headlined with Jason Jackson facing Brazilian prospect Junior Marques for the vacant welterweight championship.
Jackson (9-3) is a TUF 21 alum and a top MMA prospect out of Florida. Currently, on a 2-fight winning streak and 5-1 in his last 6 fights, he looks toward adding another title to his collection, as well as a potential call up to the UFC. Jackson’s most recent win was a submission victory over Scott Futrell at LFA 64
Marques (9-1) is a top welterweight prospect out of Brazil. The 25-year-old Imperio Fight Team (IFTeam) product has won titles in both MMA and Muay Thai since making his pro debut in 2014. With an 89% finishing rate, the man known as “Juninho” looks to win his first world title at LFA 71.
