Bellator MMA confirmed today that they have signed #10 ranked 145-pound featherweight fighter Amanda Bell.
Bell (4-4-0) is coming off an impressive unanimous decision victory over Gabrielle Holloway back in February. Holloway is of course a tough opponent in her own right, who recently stunned the MMA world by finishing Alexis Dufresne. 28-year-old Bell also owns a first round knockout over Ronda Rousey’s teammate Marina Shafir, as well as a second round submission over top-ranked lightweight contender, Brittney Elkin.
The signing of Bell is definitely a big win for Bellator’s featherweight division. The organization now has seven of the top-fifteen ranked featherweights under contract, as compared to the UFC who have three. Julia Budd is currently the Bellator MMA featherweight champion after taking out Marloes Coenen back in March to win the belt.
Bellator is building a stable of female fighters. I’m curious to see what happens next.
