Jermall Charlo retained his IBF Super Welterweight title with a knockout victory over Julian Williams in the fifth round.
Williams came out early, looking to outwork the champion, but it would be Charlo’s power that would be the key in this fight. Williams seemed to rock Charlo early in the fight, but he was able to recover. To understand the power difference between the fighters, Charlo was able to drop Williams with a solid jab in the second round.
In the fifth round, Williams stepped in with a 1-2 combo, and Charlo countered with an uppercut that sent Williams face first into the canvas. The fight could have been stopped there, but the ref allowed Williams a chance to recover. While still on shaky legs, Charlo was able to land a left hook that would close out the fight.
