Domingo Pilarte Ready To Make 2014 His Year

It has been almost 2 years since Domingo Pilarte has fought, but Friday the 31st, he will be stepping in the cage again for his fourth professional fight at Legacy Fighting Championship 27. Pilarte is 3-0 as a pro, with all fights coming via stoppage; 2 fights ending in submissions and one in a KO. However, he has taken some time off to sharpen his craft. He will be fighting Caio Machado, another 3-0 fighter in a bantamweight matchup, at Legacy 27. In what should be a fast paced, high action fight, these 2 will put their undefeated records on the line. I had a chat with Domingo to see how training has been going and what we can expect out of the undefeated fighter for 2014.

Mark Carrillo: How has training been?

Domingo Pilarte: Training has been excellent!

MC: You are 3-0 with 3 finishes as a pro, why the long breaks in between fights?

DP: I was real young when I started fighting, I didn’t know enough so I wanted to take time in between each part and work on parts of my game. I like to take my time and learn a lot.

MC: What part of Machado’s game do you plan to take advantage of on fight night?

DP: I’m just going to do my best and let God handle the rest. I’ll leave it up to him to figure that out.

MC: What is going through your head on the night of the fight?

DP: I’m just ready to get it over with. I know I am going to try my best and that’s all I can do, and I leave the rest in God’s hands.

MC: Where do you prefer the fight to go; to the ground or standing?

DP: I like standing more, takes less energy.

MC: What got you interested in martial arts?

DP: I grew up watching boxing, so that was definitely what got me into fighting.

MC: How would you like the fight with Machado to end?

DP: Whatever way God wants me to win will be fine with me.

MC: Will you fight again soon, or can we expect another break in between fights?

DP: Yes, I want to fight 3 more times this year, 2 more at least. I’m ready now to be more active.

MC: Who would you like to thank for helping you prepare for this fight?

DP: First, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for everything. My coaches Bob Perez, Jeff Messina, and Saul Faz. All my training partners and teammates, and my sponsor RES Nation.
