If you’re a fan of Texas MMA and you haven’t heard of James Deherrera, you need to watch a little closer. He’s one of the most exciting, hard hitting amateurs on the scene and is looking to turn pro very soon; but not until he avenges a loss he feels should never had been on his record. Deherrera loss to his opponent, current EAC Flyweight Champion Jacob “Lil Animal” Silva out of the Silverback, in a fight he feels was stopped early. This fight will be the Main Event this Saturday in Bryan/College Station for the Elite Amateur Combat 5, and is expected to be very exciting, with both fighters having a little beef, but retain respect for each other. I’m sure both fighters are expecting a great fight. I had to chance to interview the contender James Deherrera before this fight, and this is what he had to say about it. (more…)
You want to see a good old fashion scrap? Make sure to make it to the Brazos Center this Saturday to see Randy McCullough fight. This dude is tough as they come; he wakes up early everyday to work his construction job, then comes straight to the gym for hardcore training, and then gets his car backed into. I caught up with Patrick Choi of Windy Sport and Fitness, before his amateur MMA debut this Saturday night at the Brazos Center brought to you by CDM Promotions and RDM Audio. Since this is Patrick’s first fight some of you may not know much about him but trust me, this little guy ain’t no punk. He’s scared of no one and comes at you like chupacabra.
I caught up with Legacy fighter Jermaine Anugwom before a photo shoot for the gym was getting ready to take place. Naturally the photographer saw me and wanted me in some shots so be on the lookout for those on WindySportandFitness.com, spoiler alert I’m doing the Burt Reynolds’s Playgirl pose but way better. Anyways, enough about me let’s get to the real reason I was at the photo shoot, to interview Jermaine on his upcoming fight with Chris Reed. (more…)

I contacted Mike Jackson via Facebook, he thought I was the coolest guy he had ever met, and offered me a job. Naturally, after all the excitement of being able to contribute to another MMA website again wore off, I got a little nervous. I realized I have never done this before. I have to take pictures, research, come up with questions for an interview, and then ask the questions face to face. I sat thinking, “what am I going to write about?” Luckily, my coach and owner of Windy Sport and Fitness Jermaine Coxinha Anugwom had a capoeira legend coming to his gym, a man named Demetrius Pereira dos Santos.
