University of Baltimore President, Kurt Schmoke, invited Department of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos to speak at the winter commencement; this was to the dismay of students and faculty. There were a hand full of protesters outside, as well as students who skipped their commencement all together because they feel DeVos goes against the core values of UB.
While DeVose delivered her speech, several UB students decided to stand and turn their backs to the Trump appointed secretary as a form of protest.
