Joanna Jedrzejczyk In Her First Title Defense At UFC Fight Night 69

Joanna Jedrzejczyk will defend her strawweight title this Saturday at UFC Fight Night 69. This will be her first title defense since dominating former champion Carla Esparza at UFC 185.

The Polish native face former Invicta FC champion, Jessica Penne. Penne is just as long as Jedrzejczyk, and shouldn’t have the reach disadvantage as Esparza did. The champ has shown an advantage standing against any opponent, so look for Penne to take the champ to the ground and showcase her grappling. Jedrzejczyk has strong takedown defense, as shown in her last fight, and will look to keep the fight standing and look for the knockout.

Penne is good at keeping her composure, and will need that when Jedrzejczyk starts throwing leather at her face. I see the champ using the same game plan that won her the belt, stalking her opponent and landing strikes at will. This will force Penne to shoot for takedowns or clinch up with Jedrzejczyk, which is the best strategy that Penne can use to take the fight to the mat. Expect to see a striking clinic from the champ if Penne is unable to use her grappling effectively. This fight will for sure be a striker vs grappler bout.
