Phenomenal Return Of Mirko Cro Cop

If you missed UFC Krakow, you missed a fantastic return of the Pride veteran, Mirko Cro Cop. The Croatian is definitely not the same fighter we saw in the Pride, and K-1 days, but his experience was there in his rematch with Gabriel Gonzaga.

The gritty Brazilian put pressure on Cro Cop early in the fight; very similar to what Rafael Dos Anjos did to Anthony Pettis. But Cro Cop stayed patient and looked to counter Gonzaga with strikes. The Brazilian was successful with most of his takedowns, but Cro Cop worked from his back and landed strikes from the bottom.

While clinched, Cro Cops landed nasty elbows on the Brazilian, forcing him to shoot for more takedown, and eventually putting Gonzaga on his back. Cro Cop took advantage while in guard, and landed heavy elbows which cut the Brazilian open. His accurate ground and pound would eventually lead to the TKO victory.

Mirko Cro Cop’s UFC return was a success. I look forward to seeing what’s next for the veteran heavyweight.
