There are two types of “Serial Killers” in the NBA:
The Batman Types:
They are super competitive to the point it is almost an obsession. Constantly making improvements, never satisfied and always looking for that extra edge. Those are the Kobe Bryant types.
On the flipside you have….
The Hancock Types:
Sort of bumbling their way through things. Seem disinterested half the time. Work ethic is so-so at best. Very indifferent. Seem to have no clue about the enormity of things that are going on around them. But when a big shot needs to be made they are always in the right place at the right time. Those are the Robert Horry types.
So I was not surprised to hear that Horry has “misplaced” his 7 championship rings — he just treated them like he did the regular season: without much regard. Here is what Horry had to say about the missing jewelry during a teleconference with NBA Greats Dominique Wilkins and Bernard King:
“Honestly, I don’t know where they are right now!” Horry started, laughing. “I just moved, so I think that they’re in a box somewhere in my house. The movers weren’t supposed to touch it, but they did. I used to keep them in a jewelry box in my bathroom, but I think that they’re in the house somewhere.”
Of course if I won 7 championships I would proudly display them … in my bathroom.
Chris Webber just called “timeout” when he read how Horry thinks his rings are “around the house” somewhere (yes, CWebb was out of timeouts when he called it).
I can not confirm or deny that Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, John Stockton and Karl Malone were the guys moving Horry’s furniture to his new place.
