One Hendry County High School Goes A Little Far With Senior Prank, Another Goes Way Too Far

Throughout high school history, seniors have pulled some sort of prank. And although I can’t recall what my senior class did for our prank, I know we pulled one.

Lets trek out to Florida where two Hendry Country high schools are in the news for their senior pranks. One was done in good humor, while the other was completely in bad taste.

Labelle Senior High School students managed to send an email addressed to all faculty, staff, and students about a “Mandatory Penis Inspection,” yes you read that correctly.

“It was something funny, but at the same time it was something scary,” said Kenneth Carrion, a parent who lives in Labelle. Carrion says he found the humor in it, but he says it’s something serious too.

“You get some high schooler hacking into the system, think about it, what are we doing wrong for security?”

The Labelle High Dean of Students did send an email to parents apologizing for the prank, but exactly how the students pulled it off is something the district is still looking into.

Now, the assholes.

Then there’s Clewiston High School, where they’re $20,000 dollars lighter because of a prank pulled there. The district says 37 students spray-painted sidewalks and buildings, and destroyed curtains in the auditorium. That resulted in suspensions, and fines and we’re learning some seniors might not walk at graduation. Now parents and students are fighting to get that chance back.

“As days past, I realized my mistakes, and understood why everyone was so ashamed of me, I brought shame to myself and to my family, I’ve come to ask for my seat back and my speech at graduation,” said one student in Tuesday nights school board meeting.

The hackers, I mean, give them a slap on the wrist; they did more good than harm. Now, the school district knows they have electronic vulnerabilities and can get them fixed. The thug vandals, on the other hand, they need to be taught a valuable lesson. I hope they receive all the fines and suspensions. There’s nothing funny about destroying school property, but there is humor in a “Mandatory Penis Inspection” email.
