Kenndall Lewis Ready To Put On Show At SCC 12 In Front of Home Crowd

Superior Combative Championships brings MMA back to Aggieland with SCC 12 Saturday. The ProAm card features Miguel Guerra and Juan Torres in a heavyweight bout for the main event, Tim Lashley and Carl Perry will battle in the night’s co-main event.

I caught up with one of Aggieland’s own, Kenndall Lewis, as he’s set to step in the cage for the second time.

MC: Tell us about yourself. How old are you? Where are you from? What’s your record? How long and where have you been training?

KL: I’m 20 years old and I am from Bryan/College Station. I’m 1-0 as an amateur and I’ve been training for two years at Windy Sport and Fitness.

MC: Tell us about your last fight.

KL: My last fight was against Edrick Clark for Elite Amateur Combat, it was back in 2015. In the first round of the fight, I got slammed and broke my jaw. I finished the round and told my coaches that something doesn’t feel right, and they tell me just not to worry about it. So I get back out there and fight all 3 rounds with a broken jaw and I win by decision. That was when I knew MMA was for me.

MC: Who’s your opponent for May 21st, and what do you know about him?

KL: My opponent is Vernon Nobles, all I know about him is that he fought Brad Bells and got submitted by an Americana.

MC: How does it feel to fight in your hometown? Any added pressure compared to your last fight?

KL: It feels amazing to fight in my hometown, I don’t feel any added pressure. I’m more excited than anything!

MC: You have a daughter and recently got engaged, you’re dropping mix tapes, and you have a job. How is it balancing all this with training? When I was your age I could barely balance work and my MySpace page.

KL: Sometimes it’s tough, but sometimes it’s not. When I have to prepare for a fight I don’t go to the studio, I cut it off until after my fights. And I try not to train on the weekend so I can spend more time at home and my fiancé is very understanding of that.

MC: Tell me more about rapping. I heard a song of yours that I thought was pretty good, and I myself am more of the Alanis Morissette/Avril Lavigne type.

KL: Rapping for me is like another hobby to keep me busy, and it helps me get some things off of my chest or relaxes me after a fight camp.

MC: How would you compare yourself now to the last time you fought?

KL: I am a completely new fighter now. I have changed and evolved more than I thought I ever could since my last fight.

MC: What’s your prediction for the fight? How does it go down on May 21st?

KL: All I’m going to say is the fight won’t go to decision.

MC:Who all would you like to thank for helpful you prepare for this fight?

KL: First off, I’d like to thank God for the opportunity to fight, because without him I’d be no where. I’d like to thank my lovely fiancé for putting up with me this training camp, thank you Bobby Powers for the great coaching, and to Tre Herrera for helping me with my BJJ. Thank you to all of my teammates, and thank you to all of my fans who have supported me this far into my career.

Watch Kenndall fight this Saturday, May 21st, at The Brazos County Expo Center in Bryan, TX.
