Video: Jon Jones Cruises To Victory Over OSP In a Lack Luster Fight Then Shoots DC The Bird

There were a lot of questions to be answered with Jon Jones returning to the octagon after a 16-month hiatus, and it looks as if that list has grown after UFC 197.

Ovince Saint Preux replaced Daniel Cormier in the fight against Jon Jones, and it seemed as if the entire world was ready to write off the new challenger. At best, OSP had a punchers chance, and not much there either.

The fight started off slow, mostly Jon stalking OSP, landing strikes at will. This would loop for the entire fight, with the exception of OSP landing some hard shots here and there. The fourth round is where we saw shades of pre-suspension Jon Jones. With a tired OSP, Jones would get the takedown and land some hard elbows to the face. OSP would be saved by the bell.

Going into the fifth, and OSP clearly tired, Jon never seemed to go for the kill. Once the fight was over, you could tell that Jon seemed disappointed in his performance. The three judges gave Jon all five rounds, one judge scored a round 10-8.

After the fight, Jon acknowledged his poor performance and said he couldn’t pull the trigger. After receiving the interim belt from Dana White, he gave it back. Jon said he wants his title back, the one Daniel Cormier has.

As Jon left the cage, he sent a parting gesture DC’s way.
