Tonya Evinger was set to defend her Invicta Bantamweight title at Invicta FC 14, but her opponent failed to make weight. Pannie Kianzad weighed 1.7 lb over the 135 lb limit, and could no longer cut anymore weight.
From the opening bell, Evinger secured the takedown and battered Kianzad from the top position. Evinger went for a few submissions, but was content with punching her opponent in the face.
The second round opened with Evinger dropping Kianzad with a straight right to the face, and more ground and pound. Kianzad was outmatched from the start, and eventually the ref stepped in at 3:34 of the second round.
No telling what’s next for Evinger, but the broadcast team mentioned a possible fight with Cris “Cyborg” at 135 lb, or at a catch-weight.
