Kimbo Slice Makes His Return To MMA

The crazy train, on its way down to Freakshow Bay that the MMA community has been riding as of late, has made an unexpected stop to pick up former UFC fighter Kimbo Slice. It was announced yesterday that Kimbo has signed with Bellator.

You may remember Mr. Slice as the YouTube street fighting sensation, turned UFC fighter, and then turned undefeated professional boxer. Although it has been five years since Kimbo has competed in MMA, and the fact that he’s now 40 years old, Scott Coker feels that he can still bring in the viewers for their primetime shows. Rumors started circulating some time ago when Coker first took over Bellator, that he wanted to put Kimbo up against Ken Shamrock. Then the UFC seemed to make some sort of amends with Shamrock, who for years, had been in a very public feud with the company. After that happened, the rumor kind of died out. Then earlier this week, when pictures of Kimbo training down at his old gym, American Top Team started going around Twitter the rumors started again. This time, they turned out to be true. Although it’s very unlikely Ken Shamrock will be his opponent, since he is slated to fight the Irish bareknuckle legend, James Quinn Mcdonagh, in a bareknuckle boxing match, there have already been plenty fighters asking to fight Kimbo, according to Coker.

Slice could likely be matched up against former WWE wrestler, Bobby Lashley, or current professional Mexican wrestler Alberto del Rio, who Bellator has shown interest in. Try to keep in mind, this is real life stuff I’m talking about, as crazy as it is starting to sound.

In all honesty, it doesn’t matter who they match Kimbo up with. I will tune in to watch, that’s for sure. Especially since it’s free on Spike, and not a $60 pay per view. And if they signed Del Rio, I would watch that too. Now it’s time for Coker to shell out the money for soon to be free agent Brock Lesnar. Kimbo vs Brock? Yeah, I’d watch that too. I’ve learned to just embrace the crazy at this point. How else would all this make sense?
