This Saturday night, Legacy Amateur Series returns to Bayou City Center, formally known as the Verizon Wireless Center. The card is set with 3 title fights, including the women’s 135 title. The match up is between Houston’s own Colbey Northcutt and Dallas’ Brandi Cobos of Dominion Gym. I spoke with Colbey about her upcoming title fight, she’s ready get a knockout to earn her title.
MikeTheTruth.com: How long have you been training in MMA?
Colbey: 2 years
MTT.com: What weaknesses in your opponents game do you think you will be able to exploit on Saturday?
CN: I think my stand-up should be much better than hers.
MTT.com: What do you do outside of MMA?
CN: Not much except spend time with family, I don’t have time to do much outside of training.
MTT.com: You and your brother are on the same card. How stressed are your parents?
CN: They’re actually not, because we both have been traveling and competing all around the world for the last 10 years.
MTT.com: What can we expect from you in 2014?
CN: A few more amateur MMA fights until Sage graduates high school. Then perhaps some Pro Muay Thai and Pro kickboxing fights as well, if my team can find me some.
MTT.com: What is a typical day of training like for you?
CN: Grappling in the mornings, and cage work/MMA and boxing at night; in between in the afternoons I go to the gym with my dad to do cardio and weights.
MTT.com: How would you prefer the fight to end Saturday?
CN: A knockout would be something interesting.
