Talking Fighting, and Picking Up Chicks With Pete Spratt

Last Friday I set out to do my first one on one interview with a professional MMA fighter. Luckily for me it was the one and only Pete Spratt, one of my all time favorite fighters. So I had no problem loading up my Altima with a bunch of workout clothes and getting my two road dogs (my older brother Mike and my close friend Jeff) and making the trip to San Antonio, Texas to meet Pete. My road dogs also helped pay for the trip so I am obliged to give them a quick thank you. I met Pete at Rodrigo Pinheiro’s gym as he was beginning to teach his morning Muay Thai class, he allowed me to join in on the class and then took time to do a quick interview with me; discussing his upcoming fight, fighting after 40, and picking up women.  Mr. Pinheiro himself then asked me to stay for my first gi Jiu Jitsu class, which was awesome because I look badass in a gi and headband. I could go out to the club in that I swear. Everyone at the gym was super friendly, and I would recommend the gym to anyone in the San Antonio area. (more…)


Legacy FC 17 Fight Card (Feb. 1, 2013)

Legacy Fighting Championship is starting off 2013 in a new location, San Antonio, Texas. Legacy will look to establish a solid fan base here and continue the expansion of one of the premier MMA organizations in the nation. The main card which will air Live on AXS TV and is headlined by two well known veterans of the sport. We have Pete Spratt taking on “Cyborg” Santos. Pete is a Legacy, Strikeforce and UFC veteran, while “Cyborg” is a veteran of Pride and Strikeforce and will be making his Legacy FC debut. Expect fireworks!

Legacy FC 8 Fight Card – Sept. 16, 2011

The last Legacy card of the year is already in the works. I’m pretty sure this one is going to be another great card. Here are a few bouts that are rumored to be on the card. Nothing is final until the contracts are signed. HDNet WILL BE returning… EXCITING! Houston MMA is continuing to rise.

UPDATE 9-6-11: Mark Garcia who was originally set to fight Daniel Kim, will now be fighting Lee King
UPDATE 8-18-11
: Justin Reiswerg vs Kenneth Battle is added to the card to replace Robo vs. Flick.
UPDATE 8-17-11
: Robo tore a ligament in his ankle and will not be able to fight.
UPDATE 8-16-11
: Daniel Kim confirmed on his Facebook that his fight with Mark Garcia is off and will be moved to the November card.

Legacy FC 7 July Fight Card – July 22, 2011

All I could say was WOW when I saw this card. July 22nd, Legacy Fighting Championship will be back in Houston. The fights will be airing LIVE on HDNet. As this is only a preview, the card will continue to grow. It has top fighters representing Houston. It has Bellator, Strikeforce, WEC and UFC veterans. What more could you want? Stay tuned for additions to the card.

UPDATE 7-7-11: Angel Huerta is forced off the card due to injury. So there will be no bantamweight title fight. Alex Black vs. Jared Chaffee is now scheduled. David Armas is scheduled to face Shelby Sheehan.
UPDATE 6-18-11:
The Lee Higgins vs. Scotty Juarez fight is off. It will be replaced with Jermaine Anugwom vs. Larry Crowe.

UPDATE 6-12-11: Antonio Flores steps in to take on Pete Spratt. Let’s hope he doesn’t get signed by Zuffa before the fight. After is fine.
UPDATE 6-10-11:
Brian Melancon is off the card due to recent Strikeforce signing. He will join teammate Mike Bronzoulis on the Strikeforce Dallas card June 17th.
UPDATE 6-1-11: Jason Frank suffered a bicep tear and forced out of his fight with Shawn Machado.
UPDATE 5-31-11:
Mike Bronzoulis is off the card due to recent Strikeforce signing. Teammate Brian Melancon will take his place.
UPDATE 5-24-11:
Cameron Dollar will replace Efrain Escudero; Marc Ramirez will replace Gerardo Abadie; Jonathon Harris and Pat Bierschwale fight has been pulled because of Gracie Barra affiliation.
