In the Tuesday night PBC headliner, Dat Nguyen stopped by Houston to give hometown boxer, Miguel Flores, his first loss.
Dat Nguyen (19-3, 6 KOs) came into this fight against an undefeated Miguel Flores (21-0, 9 KOs) as a massive underdog. The betting line was as high as +2500 on some sportsbooks. Nguyen would have to win convincingly in Houston or get the knockout; Nguyen did just that.
Early in the fight, Flores was able to mix up his combination and add in solid body work, but Nguyen was able to weather the storm and eventually find a home for his right hand.
In the tenth round, Nguyen landed a combo that sent Flores to the canvas. Although he beat the count, he was unable to recover, and the ref had to step in to keep Flores from suffering any more damage.
