I am not a fan of the amateur boxing scoring system. The scoring is more subjective than professional boxing, and on the international level, corruption is high.
Ireland’s Michael Conlan felt first hand what happens when you leave it up to the judges in a corrupt system, all the while having his dream of winning an Olympic gold medal snatched away.
Conlan lost to Russia’s Vladimir Nikitin in a bantamweight quarterfinal match on Tuesday. Following the results, Conlan shot judges the double birds and gave a profanity-laced post-fight interview.
