Invicta FC 19 Will Be Headlined By Two Title Fights

Invicta Fighting Championship just announced their return to the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo. for Invicta FC 19. The September 23 card will stream live and exclusively on UFC Fight Pass, and will be headlined by two title bouts. Atop the card, newly crowned interim flyweight champion, Jennifer Maia (13-4-1), puts her belt on the line against challenger Roxanne Modafferi (19-12).

Brazil’s Maia captured gold at Invicta FC 16 in March, defeating fellow countrywoman, Vanessa Porto, by unanimous decision in a “Fight of the Year” contender. Modafferi, a veteran of UFC and Strikeforce, has won four of her last five fights, including victories over divisional contenders DeAnna Bennett and Andrea Lee.

In the co-main event, Japanese star Ayaka Hamaski (13-1) defends her atomweight championship against surging Jinh Yu Frey (5-1). Hamasaki has won her last four bouts, the most recent coming by way of submission via third-round armbar against Amber Brown at Invicta FC 16. Frey also enters the contest having won four straight, including a unanimous decision win over former atomweight champion Herica Tiburcio in March.

Stay tuned as Invicta releases the full card for Invicta FC 19.
