Rose Namajunas stepped up to replace Joanne Calderwood against Paige Vanzant on 5 weeks notice. The fight was set to main event UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas. Namajunas completely dominated the fight from the opening bell till she secured the second consecutive rear-naked choke submission in the fifth round.
“Thug” Rose opened up early with the striking, landing heavy shots that cut open PVZ’s face. From there, she used her wrestling and takedowns to continue her domination. On the ground, Namajunas attempted several submissions, but PVZ was able to escape, even deep ones. In the final round, Namajunas was finally able to secure the rear-naked choke, and get the tap. After the fight, Rose said she wants to take some time off.
