Threats to The UFC Featherweight Title

This Sunday will be a possible title contention matchup between Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira. The Hawaiian, Holloway, is on a six fight winning streak, and looks better every time he performs. Holloway’s last lost was to interim featherweight champ, Conor McGregor. It seems the lost to McGregor started Holloway’s breakthrough.

Oliveira’s jiu-jitsu is something every fighter has to look out for, but in his last fight against Nik Lentz, he showed that he can be dangerous on the feet as well. The Brazilian’s amplified muay thai has almost made him the Fabricio Werdum of the featherweights.

I give Holloway the edge in the striking department, he has been using footwork and angles in his recent bouts. The footwork seems to confuse his opponents. We’ll see if he brings something new to the table in his upcoming bout.

Both fighters have proven to be well rounded wherever the fight takes place, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this fight ended in the first round. Both guys are finishers and are looking to get that next title shot. Holloway has the momentum after the beautiful performance he had against Cub Swanson. This fight has “Fight of the Night” written all over it.
